Softek has outfitted Illuminate with the following capabilities to meet the demands placed on today’s busy radiology departments:
Searches
- User-Friendly Interface – Illuminate’s Google™-like interface searches all the structured and free-text information residing in your radiology reports.
- Relevance Algorithm – Illuminate’s proprietary natural language processing and intelligent data-ranking algorithm deliver the most relevant, positive search results.
- Split-Second Results – Illuminate’s proprietary, patent-pending crawler algorithms gather, index and maintain the clinical text portion of all radiology exams. Search results are typically returned in less than one second.
- Workflow Integration – Illuminate can be accessed instantly while radiologists are reading other exams.
- Search Bar Parameters – When searching for a case, you have the option to look through all exams in the system or through just your own previously viewed exams.
- Auto-Complete – As you begin typing in the search box, Auto-Complete presents a list of matching terms that are generated from your own index and ranked by frequency of occurrence.
- Advanced Search – Easily set search parameters based on modality, exam date, body part, referring physician, procedure, facility, diagnosis, specific parts of the report and various patient criteria.
- Search-Engine Syntax – Standard search-engine syntax (such as quotation marks and parentheses) lets you broaden or narrow your searches and account for misspellings in reports.
Views
- Out of the Way but Easy to Access – Mini-Mode and Micro-Mode options minimize Illuminate’s size on the monitor while maintaining full access and functionality.
- Automatic Preview of Patient Priors – Illuminate automatically displays the Impression section of any prior, related exams for the patient whose images are currently being viewed. A single click of the mouse brings up prior images or reports. Filters can be set to view specified modalities or patient body parts.
- Data Export – Entire search results can be exported to your text or spreadsheet program for analysis.
- Illumination Center – Get easy access to the Search, Bookmarks and Message Center functionality that lets you access and manage radiology reports and images.
- Search – Access your Recent Searches, Saved Searches and your entire View History – both exams from your workflow and those you searched for. Because the Illuminate server indexes only text, it is free from the storage limitations present in some PACS history lists.
- Bookmarks – Access exams you have tagged for your personal use (My Bookmarks) as well as exams that all radiologists have identified as interesting or unique (Public Bookmarks).
- Message Center – Access messages and alerts in your Illuminate Inbox as well as sent and archived messages.
- Search – Access your Recent Searches, Saved Searches and your entire View History – both exams from your workflow and those you searched for. Because the Illuminate server indexes only text, it is free from the storage limitations present in some PACS history lists.
- Exam Viewer Icons – Customize your PACS exam shelf with icons that let you access all of Illuminate’s search, alert and collaborate functionality without interrupting your current workflow.
Alerts
- Alerts – Alerts, with or without expiration dates, can be set for a variety of automatic notifications and can be sent to any authorized user’s Illuminate Messaging Inbox or pre-registered email address, pager or cell phone. Alerts include:
- Exam Follow-up – Be notified when a follow-up scan you have recommended has been performed or if the patient failed to get the follow-up scan.
- Images Available – Send or receive notification as soon as a new exam is ready for viewing.
- Exam Status Change – Send or receive notification when the report status for an exam has changed.
- Track Patient Alert – Follow a specific patient over a designated period of time by receiving notifications every time an exam is completed for this patient.
- Search Criteria Alert – Be notified when new exams that match a specified search criterion are indexed in your PACS.
- Exam Follow-up – Be notified when a follow-up scan you have recommended has been performed or if the patient failed to get the follow-up scan.
Collaboration
- Bookmarks – Electronically organize and save cases using self-assigned Tags. Your favorite Tags can easily be designated as Hotkeys that are assigned with a single keystroke. Bookmarked files can be saved for personal use or categorized and annotated for all PACS users.
- Message Center – Send, receive, save, reply to and forward mail to other Illuminate users.
- Confirmations – Be notified when recipients have opened a message you sent them.
Setup
- Disruption-Free Implementation – Softek staff installs Illuminate at your facility. They will set up and install the Illuminate server, synchronize historical data and assist with the initial user workstation installations. The entire installation can be accomplished in just a few hours with no disruption to your production environment.
- Continuous Indexing – Illuminate can synchronize and index half a million exams in less than a day. Once initial indexing is complete, Illuminate’s crawler algorithms continuously add new reports as they are available in the PACS with virtually no impact to your system. Illuminate indexes all the text – both structured and unstructured – in your radiology reports. Once you select a file, both the full report and PACS images can be accessed with a single click.
