Features of Illuminate

Illuminate gives Philips iSite PACS users split-second access to all radiology reports and their corresponding images. This unprecedented data-mining of the unstructured data within iSite PACS – coupled with its user notification system – helps radiologists, educators and administrators improve productivity, clinical decision making and, ultimately, patient outcomes. Softek has outfitted Illuminate with the following capabilities to meet the demands placed on today’s busy radiology departments:

Searches

  • Seamless integration – Illuminate operates from within the iSite PACS architecture. Once you’re in iSite PACS, you have access to Illuminate. Illuminate can be accessed from the iSite PACS Folders List or from QuickLinks within the iSite PACS exam screen as radiologists are reading their scans.

  • User-friendly interface – Searching on Illuminate is as easy as using Google™.

  • Split-second results – Illuminate’s proprietary, patent-pending crawler algorithms gather, index and maintain the clinical text portion of all studies in iSite PACS. Search results are typically listed in less than one second.

  • Search bar parameters – When searching for a case, HyperLinks let you look through all exams in iSite PACS or through just your own previously viewed studies.

  • Advanced Search – Set search parameters based on modality, exam date, body part, referring physician, procedure, facility, diagnosis and various patient criteria.

  • Clarifying search language – Special words and characters typed into the search box help you perform more precise searches.

  • Auto-Complete – As you begin typing in the search box, Auto-Complete presents a list of matching terms that are generated from your own index and ranked by frequency of occurrence.

  • Relevance Algorithm – Illuminate prioritizes search results so that positive diagnoses receive top listing.

Alerts and messages

  • Alerts – Alerts, with or without expiration dates, can be set for a variety of automatic notifications and can be sent to three different sites of any authorized iSite PACS user: the user’s Illuminate Messaging Inbox, a pre-authorized email address or a pre-authorized pager number. Alerts include:

    • Exam Follow-up – Be notified when a follow-up scan you have recommended has been performed or if the patient failed to get the follow-up scan.

    • Images Available – Send or receive notification as soon as a new exam is ready for viewing.

    • Exam Status Change – Send or receive notification when the report status for an exam has changed.

    • Patient Tracking – Follow a specific patient over a designated period of time by receiving notifications every time a study is completed for this patient.

    • Search Criteria – Be notified when new studies are indexed that match a specified search criterion.

  • Message Center – Illuminate’s messaging system allows you to send, receive, save, reply to and forward mail to other Illuminate users.

  • Confirmations – Be notified when recipients have opened a message you sent them.

  • Inbox Digest – Set filters to prioritize when and how you receive alerts and mail.

Managing studies and searches

  • Bookmarks – Electronically organize and save cases using intuitive self-assigned keywords and QuickTags. Bookmarked files can be saved for personal use or categorized and annotated for all iSite PACS users.

  • Illumination Center – Accessed from the top left corner of the Illuminate screen, the Illumination Center offers a full menu of choices to access and manage files through the Search, Bookmarks and Message Center tabs.

  • Search tab gives you access to:

    • Recent Searches – See search results by specific time parameters.

    • Saved Searches – Save and recall the criteria for search parameters you perform regularly and then access this organized library of searches you’ve saved.

    • View History – See all the exams you have previously viewed – both those from your workflow and those you searched for – from any date range you desire. Because the Illuminate server indexes only text, it is free from the storage limitations present in iSite PAC’s My History folder.

  • Bookmarks tab gives you access to:

    • My Bookmarks – View studies you have tagged for your personal use.

    • Public Bookmarks – See studies that all radiologists using your PACS have identified as interesting or unique.

  • Power Export – Export your entire search results to your text or spreadsheet program.

  • QuickLinks – Accessed from the iSite PACS exam screen, customized QuickLinks not only let you search iSite PACS for comparable studies, but they let you view clinical notes, Bookmark an exam, set an Alert or send a message about the exam – all while keeping your current study open.

Setup

  • Plug and play – As a Philips partner, Softek integrates Illuminate seamlessly to the iSite PACS archive. The system comes complete with all hardware and software and becomes usable in just a few hours.

  • System compatibility – Illuminate is available to users of iSite 3.X and 4.X.

  • Indexing – Illuminate can backload and index half a million studies in less than a day. Once initial indexing is complete, new studies are added automatically. Illuminate indexes only the text portion of a study, but once you select a file, both the text and images from iSite PACS appear.

  • Expert staff – Softek associates provide professional on-site installation and training and 24/7 technical support.
